And can it be that in a world so full and busy, the loss of one small creature makes a void in any heart, so wide and deep that nothing but the width and depth of vast eternity can fill it up?    ~ Charles Dickens

Yes. Yes, it can.

  1. Oh No !!!! Riley is now gone as well Kitty? I am so sorry to hear this. I know your heart is broken and the hole within is massive and endless. Both losses so close in time is a great deal to bear…Riley must have missed Clancy too and needed to be back with him again. Such sadness….There must be a reason for these losses and as you well know, we all must face them on this journey through life and they never get easier! Time now I guess to take that love you shared with them and return it back to Phillip so you can both grow even stronger together again. The kitties will be there for you with all of their love to comfort you as best they can. My heart goes out to you guys. It is a place none of us want to find ourselves in. God speed and hugs to you all….Hang tight and know they are watching you….Hugs and love…VK ❤

    • Thank you, Ogee. We’re so grateful for the blessing of Riley and Clancy; our years together did indeed flow by way too quickly, but oh, they were “cherce!”

  2. Oh dear god!!! I went cold when I read the title of this post……why oh why did you have to lose Riley too???? This is just too much to bear.
I have no words that can remotely express how sorry I am for you and Philip, I know how that yawning hole feels….and how empty it must feel without her.
I hope their souls find each other and that you and Philip get through this dreadful time…..like Clancy, your darling girl was loved and had a wonderful life, dog heaven on earth, no consolation, I know.
The pics are beautiful and heartbreaking and the quote and empty couch have me sobbing. You poor, poor things. You are in my thoughts. Love and hugs, always. xxxxxxxxxxx

    • Oh, Dina, thank you; it’s been a truly rough week at the end of a rough summer and some days I’m pretty flat…she was such a love and we miss them both soooo much…all the triggers throughout the day to take walks, have parties, get them up, let them rest…the barking and tail-wagging. I miss the way they entered a room and seemed to sing, “Here I am! Isn’t everything great? Let’s play!” I know they’re together and that makes me feel peace.

      • Ahhhhh….Triggers….yes, dogs have so many of them! And they are so very present being dogs and all, so to suddenly have them both gone must be horrible….if only we could keep our gentle friends for longer…
I know how you both feel, that emptiness they leave behind that is filled by tears and downright heartbreak, oh, my heart aches for you. What a terrible few months, I feel I have come to know your beautiful pups and feel so very sad now knowing they have passed, but how lovely to know they are together, that would give me peace too. I’m so sorry to hear this though and feel it all but don’t have the right words……sending you warmth, comfort and healing in the days and months to come.I salute your beautiful friends, it was a pleasure knowing them, and knowing how much love back and forth amongst you all.xxxxx

  3. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Though I’ve gotten to know you well enough, since I began reading your blog, to know that you are very aware of the cycles of life that include all of us… I know that feeling of a great hole in the heart when a loved one is no longer part of our world. Here’s to the memory of a friend.
